True Italian Pizza in a cool roof top ambience : Onesta, New BEL Road

Onesta, one of the pizza place which was in my bucket list since I read the blog of  Navneeth Thimmappa (Life On Plates)  on Onesta, Koramangala Branch. But whenever I use to visit Koramangala, due to one or other reason I was missing to dine-in this restaurant. But when I heard Onesta has opened a new branch in New BEL Road which is just a few KMs away from my home, I couldn't able to resist and with in a week of its opening I visited this restaurant for dinner.

Honestly, I felt bit odd with my dining experience as I didn't knew they are running promotional trail. When the steward cleared me that its a free trail at the end, my whole odd experience got justified.

LOCATION: This restaurant is located above Mc.Donalds on the New BEL Road, it can be easily missed out from fast moving vehicle as the major branding has been done on third floor. Google Maps can help you to locate this place easily.

AMBIENCE

Its kind of Hybrid ambience, the front face of the restaurant gives a roof top dining experience and the inner part of the restaurant resembles a fine-dine setup with air conditioning. They have a open kitchen setup for baking the pizza at the outer dining area with a true Italian architecture and they have a bakery kind of setup in the inner dining area which houses desserts and starters. Overall ambience is refreshing, they have decorated the whole place with hanging flower pots, vibrant coloured windows and a country style cycle at the entrance.
We got the corner seat on the outdoor dining area which has a perfect view of New BEL Road. Table was quite small and they had stacked 2 comic books along with the cutlers. Being a comic fan I loved this concept and I hope they change them with new editions regularly. If so, I'll be a patron for this restaurant.

SERVICE

Since they were running promotional trail, the service appeared quite straight forward. Instead of giving menu, steward dictated the menu and asked to choose 2 out of 4 veg pizzas and 2 drinks out of 4. The drinks arrived bit slowly, as we were not in hurry I didn't wanted to complain. But the steward was kind enough to replace the green apple drink when I complained that it was heavy on sweet side. Pizza were served at the right time and the steward didn't interrupted too much by suggestions which I liked the most.

DRINKS
Orange Mint Cooler

We ordered Orange Mint Cooler and Green Apple Cooler. As I mentioned earlier the Green Apple Cooler was too sweet, when steward wanted my opinion on drinks I honestly told about the problem. After he replaced it with another one, it tasted good. But, I wish Green Apple Cooler must had strong essence of Green Apple. On the other hand Orange Mint Cooler was perfect and refreshing. The texture of this drink was so tempting. I just loved this drink.

PIZZA
Farmhouse Pizza

We choose Farm House and Mexican Veg Delight, they served small pizza’s on a wooden pan. Farmhouse tasted good but I felt like they should work on quantity of topping. But the ingredients definitely succeeded in appealing my taste buds. Especially the crispy crunchy baby corn, lightly added bell peppers, roughly chopped onions and of course fresh black olives.
Mexican Veg Delight tasted more awesome than the Farmhouse, cheese used in it was too good and the toppings were fresh. The quantity of toppings in this pizza was good. Main attraction of this pizza was cherry tomatoes which satisfied both eyes and taste buds. Along with the cherry Tomato it had capsicum, onion and tiny bits of red chili backed up with Tabasco sauce to give a perfect spicy twist.

EVERYTHING ELSE: They do offer valet parking and two wheeler parking could be difficult as there is no parking place nearby. Hygiene has been maintained very well in every part of the restaurant. Seating is quite comfortable but it's not meant for long conversations.

FINAL VERDICT: A perfect pizza place with true Italian origin and a great ambience. I definitely recommend this place for a great dining experience especially on a rainy evening.

An amazing weekend food destination : Holy Flames, Marathahalli

Absolute Delight! Honestly, this is one of those restaurants which lives beyond your expectations. This restaurant has taken a leap in experimenting fusion food and delivering the unmatched quality at the same time. It was really surprising to see the equal priority for both Veg & Non Veg categories in their each cuisine.

AMBIANCE: Its quite astonishing, tables are well equipped with Barbecue Pit with decent cutlers. Wood log textured wall will definitely tempt you to take a selfie with it. Some of the decal & sign frames makes you to spend bit time figuring out what it really mean. Corner of the restaurant hosts live wish grill counter, another corner has desert counter. Bar is strategically placed near the entrance. Kitchen is quite big and hygiene is maintained well. Apart from all these, they have a nice pool with lawn & Garden at the entrance and they are planning to host mobile grill counter in the garden area which will be a great combination of fun & food once they implement.

SERVICE: Their service should be benchmark for many posh restaurants in Bengaluru. Each table will be attended by 3-4 stewards and they never ever give you chance to look up to make a service related request. Since it was an invitation for tasting event, we are able meet the Owner, Manager & Chefs. Everyone is so humble and service oriented. They will make sure that you feel like a VIP in their restaurant. Chef was very kind enough to come again and again to ask about the quality & taste of food and he was very open for the suggestions. Totally they will offer an unique kind of service.

FOOD

Pineapple Passion & Pink Lady
Their food upholds the name "Holy". After a long time I enjoyed each food without bothering about diet. Some of the starters were divine in deed.We were served with two shots as welcome drink. The Pink Lady & The Pineapple Passion. It was quite difficult to detect the flavor of Pink Lady but at last we assumed it as Canberry. However both drinks were good and gave the indication that our lunch session is going to be wonderful.
As I stated above, service was real quick. As soon as we finished our welcome shots, they arranged grill pit in our table and loaded with Variety of grills... Nooo... They were not just ordinary grills, they were divine grills...

GRILLS:
Paneer Grill: It was tooooooo soft. Very rarely I got to taste such high quality paneer and Holy Flames is my new favorite in it. We got to know that they prepare paneer by themselves in restaurant instead of depending on paneer available in retail.
Tandoori Ananas: Star of the day, I don't know how many of these pineapple grill I consumed on that day. It tasted simply magical. Spiciness use to kick in to the taste buds after swallowing it. We couldn't able to hold our curiosity and called chef to know the art of such spice management. Other Grills like potato, corn & fruits were too good.

STARTERS:
Paneer Sufiyan, Aloo 65 were good and taste was just perfect as it should be.Salt & Pepper Corn was one more dish which delighted our lunch experience more. It was neither too crispy nor too soft, somewhere in middle of perfection which is too hard to achieve. We just enjoyed every bit of it by ordered multiple times.Apart from above starters, they served hara bhara kabab & Jalpeno Fitters. Hara Bhara Kabab was good in terms of both filling and taste. Jalpeno Fitter was quite aside. Though it was true to its core taste, didn't appealed much in between such wide starters range.

WISH GRILL:
This restaurant has adopted one of the rare trend in the Town called Wish Grill, where you can choose the cuisine, ingredients and experiment by creating your own fusion food. Though this option appears like wonderful, I'm quite disappointed from the output. Flat Noodles was below average and a Mexican veg bowl tasted just average.

MAIN COURSE:
By the time we reached the stage of having Main Course, our stomach's were full. After talking a walk in lobby with the Manger, we were back in track and tried our hands on main course. Curries were good, Naan was soft. Chef was kind enough to prepare Veg Biriyani freshly (which was out of the menu) upon our request.

DESERTS:
Before jumping on to deserts we tried chat section. I had papdi chat which was good but paani puri was too sour.I must admit, their desert spread is one of the widest desert spread in the town. Brownies, Cakes, Pastries, Bengal Sweets, Ice Creams and what not. You will definitely feel like kid while selecting the desert. I tried combination of two ice creams, brownie, a pastry and a bengal sweet. Everything was good.

DRINKS:
I tasted a cucumber flavored mocktail which was too good, my fellow foodies who tried cocktails were too happy about their drink.

EVERYTHING ELSE: I just wish that the wish grill had separate section for Veg & Non Veg, Distance between the tables are good and provides perfect privacy. Available space is well utilized to host all kinds of crowds.

FINAL VERDICT: I feel its an ultimate destination of Barbecue Experience. Value for Money, Delightful Service and Divine Food Quality are the Key Factors to put this restaurant in your wishlist.

Romantic outdoor dining experience : Bayleaf Restaurant Bar, Koramanagala

I never thought that such an exotic place is located at ground floor of Raheja Arcade. In the recent times Koramangala has become hub of fine dine restaurants, breweries and multi-cuisines restaurants. Bayleaf is just another star among them.

Since Zomato awarded me with a voucher and as it was last date of voucher we made plans to visit this restaurant though it's bit far from home. We located it very easily and dedicated parking space in such a traffic bustling vicinity added extra delight.

AMBIANCE: Though it's located in a building which looks very old, they have completely given modern touch to their restaurant. In the whole building this restaurant part appears like it has came from a different time. However, ambiance is truly wonderful. They have open air outside seating and air-conditioning seating. Naturally cultivated green fence separates outdoor seating from the koramangala main road. Since it was week day evening it had only few guests. So, we decided to sit at outdoor without worrying about smokers! Our choice was great, we had complete privacy and enjoyed light drizzle!

SERVICE: Honestly, I didn't liked their service. At the beginning manager took great interest and helped out in choosing a seat, soon after I presented the voucher everything changed dramatically. First thing which irritated me was manager started to educate (literally) me about how to place order. I don't know what he was thinking. Second thing, they assigned a trainee / inexperienced steward to us. Our steward use to drop food all over table while serving. Also that manager enquired about the voucher twice in middle of our dining (like how & when you got that voucher, who awarded it, etc) Fed up with his questions I told him that I'm ready to pay the bill without any discounts. Thereafter he didn't asked any questions. Ill-treating a potential guest threw away all other good factors about this restaurant in my views.

FOOD: I must say, food was really great. At the beginning we ordered tamatar dhaniya shorbha which had true taste of its flavors. It's been a while since I tasted true tomato essence in soup and every sip of this shorba had true tomato puree in it. Just loved it.
We ordered corn pepper chat to accompany mocktails. It was not that much crispy as it must be. However taste was good and it went well with mocktails.
Then we jumped to main course by ordering Paneer Kurchan with Butter Roti & Naan. Paneer Kurchan was extraordinary. Paneer was perfect, the light sour taste in the background blended well with tangy taste of gravy. It was indeed a perfect harmony between spices. Butter Roti & Naan were good as usual. They must work on presentation of food in order to make food more appealing.

Purple Glaze
DRINKS: In between we ordered mocktails namely Cinderella & Purple Glaze. Purple Glaze is my all time favorite. But here it tasted quite lite. I never tried Cinderella before. It was too good or beautiful just like it's name.

EVERYTHING ELSE: Locating washroom is like a treasure hunt it's not easily visible, outdoor seating arrangement is bit tricky. Since space between the tables are not even, it appears like a maze of you want come out of it. Hygiene has been maintained well all over the restaurant.

I'm rating this restaurant considering the great ambiance & for excellent effort of chef. If service was good, I would have rated this restaurant 4.5!

FINAL VERDICT: In my views it's one of the best place to take your date with you... Provided if service factor improves distinctively in future.
